On 5th September a team from the Cardinal Hume Centre will be taking on the audacious challenge of completing a 54 mile walk in the Peak District in 24 hours.
It will not be easy, nor fun (none of us are seasoned walkers). We have already begun our training including a 26 mile walk that caused blisters, back pain, pulled hamstrings to name just a few of the list of complaints at the end of the day (and that was on flat ground).
The reason we have taken on the challenge is to raise much needed funds for the the Cardinal Hume Centre, the charity we all work for.
The Centre works with the most vulnerable in society - homeless young people with no safe place to sleep, families at risk of homelessness, people that are isolated, alone and vulnerable. The Centre gives them the advice and supports to move towards a better future. There is hostel for young people, family centre, employment support, housing and immigration and adult learning support all on one site. Every day we see the difference the Centre makes to people who really need it - please sponsor us so we can help more people.
Thanks so much,
Team Hume's Hike for the Homeless
