Story

Upon initially deciding to pursue the Everest Base Camp trek I was under the impression that it would be a ‘walk in the park’, a nice holiday, and a chance to relax whilst being surrounded by beautiful scenery. This being the primary reason for me not aiming to raise money prior to starting the trek.

My naivety toward the journey ahead became somewhat apparent on arrival at the Tenzing-Hillary airport, Lukla (the worlds most dangerous airport); when we saw a number of Helie-rescues on our first day.

Over the course of 10 days we trekked around 80 km, reaching a max altitude of 5600m. Despite having a great time, there were points of the journey which were sincerely difficult - Kala Patthar peak being especially tough on the mind/body.

In retrospect, I believe an achievement of this sort is a worthy cause to raise awareness for a charity close to my heart - the Road Victims Trust. It is a charity local to my hometown, and is not particularly well known.

All donations are vastly appreciated and will contribute to making significant, tangible differences to families who have been affected by road deaths.
