We inspire young people to believe in a brighter future

Story

In March 2021 I will row, in a new boat design from Rannoch Adventures, some 3,000 miles across the Atlantic ocean from the Canary islands to Antigua.

It will take months of preparation and dedication, as well as team work and tenacity. The training has already started, and we are all working hard, so as to enable each one of us to give our all to the team and hopefully achieve the crossing in 35-40 days.

This is a huge personal challenge and through it I hope to raise funds for a charity that is important to me - The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.

Last year I crewed on an Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust yacht with young people under 18 all of whom are recovering from or still under treatment for cancer.   No-one deserves cancer, but certainly not children. They are at the age where they should be believing they have a life to look forward to and to live for.  The trips with the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust give them back this belief.  The trips are transformational to their outlook and self belief.  It was a privilege to have been a part of it.

This year in particular, donations to charities like the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust have fallen.  Please support me and enable them to continue to do the fantastic work they do.

About the charity

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust inspires young people aged 8-24 to believe in a brighter future living through and beyond cancer. For many young people simply picking up where they left off before their diagnosis just isn’t possible. So, when treatment ends the Trust’s work begins.
