We have partnered with Hand in Hand International, an amazing social enterprise fighting poverty in developing countries by providing grassroots entrepreneurs with business training, microfinance and social mobilisation.
Hand in Hand are planning to launch their next Village Uplift Programme in Ngandani, Kenya, which will ultimately help lift 700 children and adults out of poverty. Hand in Hand will use their tried and tested four-step Job Creation Model to give the residents of Ngandani the skills they need to set up their own sustainable enterprises and, with this, the ability to support themselves out of poverty. Every donation from this event will go directly to the programme.
Ngandani is a village located in Makueni County in the south of Kenya, roughly four hours south-east from Nairobi. Around 35 percent of people living in Makueni live in poverty (earning less than $1 per day), resulting in high malnutrition and school dropout rates and creating a multi-generational poverty trap. With agriculture constituting 78 percent of household income in the County, the people have been hard-hit by a recent drought in 2017 – one of the worst in Kenya’s living memory –, making the idea of escaping poverty unassisted seem ever more distant.
Last February we organised an amazing pub quiz and managed to raise an overwhelming £2,700. We are hoping to outdo ourselves this year so we are setting a target of £5,000.

In addition to the quiz there'll also be an opportunity to bag yourself some amazing raffle and auction prizes thanks to donations from Hand in Hand and our team., a raffle and other fun so do come along! The venue is downstairs in Azzurro (35 Tooley St, London SE1 2QJ) from 6.30pm.
