It challenge time!

I am about to embark on a year like no other! This year I am doing three insane challenges to raise £10,000 which will go towards providing water in one of the most water deprived areas in the world! More about that below.

Challenge number 1 - COMPLETED IN RAMADAN 2021

I completed 100 Miles in the month of Ramadan by running, cycling and walking. Yes, all whilst fasting. The Scottish fast lasts around 18 hours! I completed this in April 2021 which was a tough but amazing experience. 

Challenge number 2 - WALKING 1 MILLION STEPS IN 100 DAYS

From the 1st of June 2021 I decided to walk 1 MILLION STEPS. Call me crazy but I am passionate about raising this money to provide water for life for our beautiful brothers and sister in humanity. 

I started walking when my step count was around 2,000 steps a day which was shocking. I ramped that up to 10,000 a day and completed the challenge in 2021. 

Another challenge completed! yay!

Challenge number 3

Now, this challenge is something I would only have dreamt of. I actually don’t know what made me go for this as I am no where near a hiking man. I remember I climbed Mount Ben Nevis (highest mount in Europe) which is 1,345m high many years ago. I hated it. I did not enjoy it one bit. I told myself I will not do this again…

With all of that being said, my toughest challenge of my life will be to:

CLIMB MOUNT EVERST BASE CAMP!!!

Yes! Inshaa Allah (God Willing) I am going to climb the beast which is Everest Base Camp. The Plan is to climb it at the end of this year (Covid permitting). People have told me why am I doing this?! Am I in the right frame of mind for this?! This is not going to be easy! Etc however I have this strong urge to pursue something that I would never have thought would be possible for me. This is all for a great cause. I will be training after Ramadan inshaa Allah.

Why am I putting myself through two crazy challenges?
844 million people lack basic drinking water access, that is more than 1 out of every 10 people on the planet. Women and girls spend an estimated 200 million hours hauling water every day.

It is in our coming together that we can make a life changing difference. We may never meet the one who drinks this clean water but just imagine the joy and smiles on their faces when they drink clean water for the first time.

£35 can give 1 person water for life
£105 can give 3 people water for life
£175 can give 5 people water for life
£350 can give 10 people water for life

Your donation will contribute towards the construction of a Smart Village in one of the most deprived areas in the world, Tharpakar in Sindh, Pakistan, the 5th largest desert in the world. 

Our collective donations of £35,000 will enable Human Appeal to implement a fully integrated water, health and food security and livelihoods programmes for 1000 people in Tharpakar, Pakistan.

These villages have not had access to clean water for almost 200 years. Women and young children take up to several hours a day, in the blazing heat, to collect water from open contaminated wells. This same water leads to the deaths of thousands of children in Tharpakar.

The advanced solar powered water well works all day, pumping 10,000 gallons of water every 45 minutes. This enables access to clean water for 1000 people 24 hours a day, meeting not only their drinking needs but also for domestic usage and livestock.

The integrated village will also have:
Water supply lines extended to the doorstep of the villager’s homes,
Solar powered lights throughout the village,
Purpose built toilet facilities,
Agricultural tools and climate smart agricultural seeds,
Farming training and support to grow local vegetables, establishing domestic kitchen gardens to meet nutritional & dietary needs, saving hundreds of lives from malnutrition each year,
A pair milking goats for any widowed women,
Livestock management training,
Vaccinations and deworming of all existing livestock,
Fodder for all animals.

Together we can provide the gift of clean water and be a part of saving lives and raising smiles.
Lastly, regular feedback throughout the construction phase of the smart village will be given, culminating with a final project completion report.
