Story

**2017 UPDATE**

🌟5 Years of Fundraising for Pudsey🌟

  • In November 2013, aged 7, Isabelle swam as many lengths as she could in one hour and raised over £200.
  • In November 2014, aged 8, Isabelle swam her very first mile for Pudsey and raised another £405.
  • In November 2015, aged 9, Isabelle set herself the mammoth challenge of swimming a mile a day for 21 consecutive days - the length of the English Channel! Her commitment and dedication to this staggering effort enabled her to raise over £1500, and also attracted the attention the cameras at BBC Look North who attended the swimming pool to film her final mile. Following this, she was also invited as a special guest to appear live on the national Children in Need event TV programme!
  • In October 2016, aged 10, Isabelle continued to step-up her determination and raised another £1400 by swimming 40 miles - the length of the River Humber!  She did this in 20 days, averaging two miles at the pool each day.

So, since 2013, when she was just 7 years old, Isabelle has raised over £3500 for BBC Children in Need through these incredible swimming challenges, and we extend our heart-felt thanks and appreciation to every single person who has donated over these years!👏  Now aged 11, she has just started secondary school, and is very quickly finding out how much less of her own free time she has (oh, the joys of homework!!) - however...she still feels determined to continue to try to raise a few more pounds for Pudsey!  So, this year, to mark her 5 years of fundraising for BBC Children in Need, she has decided to challenge herself in a slightly different way!  Instead of swimming 'shorter(!)' distances over many consecutive days, she is pledging to swim as far as she possibly can during the same amount of time as a whole school day - that's constantly swimming lengths from 8:40am-3:05pm, with only an 11am 20mins break and a lunch break from 1:20pm-2:05pm!!  During these 'school time' hours, Isabelle is hoping to swim 7miles (just over 11km) - 7 representing her age at the beginning of her fundraising journey, and 11 representing her age today!  This year will be a challenge of endurance, stamina, determination and resilience...and we could not be prouder of our beautiful daughter's incredible dedication to wanting to help those less-fortunate than herself wherever she can!  In advance, thank you from the bottom of our hearts if you are able to donate to support Isabelle to support Pudesy...your kindness means the world to us all.💖🌟

2016 Update

Following on from the HUGE success of Isabelle's fundraising for BBC Children in Need in 2015, where she raised a whopping £1515.00 for Pudsey, she has now set herself an even greater challenge for 2016!  Last year she superbly smashed the distance of the English Channel, and so for 2016 she pledges to swim even further - 2560 lengths/64,000metres - the whole length of the River Humber! Isabelle crossed this 40mile long river on the way to her special television appearance for Pudsey last year, and had an idea back then that this mammoth 40 MILE distance would be her next challenge!

For ease, we have decided to keep and edit this same Just Giving page from last year, but have increased the target - let's see if more kind and generous donations this year can take that running total to over £2000!  As always, we are immensely proud of our beautiful, determined and talented daughter, and we thank you in advance for all your amazing support!  All donations, no matter how large or small, are greatly appreciated and go, of course, straight to the most deserving cause.

2015

Over the last two years, Isabelle has raised £641 for Pudsey by completing swimming challenges that she has set for herself; in 2013 she swam as many lengths as she could in a single swimming session, in 2014 she took the extra stroke(s!) to swim her very first mile, and for this year, inspired by her favourite author - Mr. David Walliams, she has set herself the ultimate test of commitment and endurance.  Just for Pudsey, she has decided to swim the distance of the English Channel.  Of course, unlike her hero Mr. Walliams, she cannot swim this mammoth distance in one marathon session across open waters, however she can pledge to swim one mile every day at her local pool (FreshFitness in Skegness, who have also kindly agreed to waiver all pool fees in support of Isabelle's challenge) for twenty one consecutive days, in order to reach this total distance.

Isabelle would love to surpass last year's total of £405 and raise even more money this year for Pudsey, but she can't do this without your kind and generous donations!  Travis and I are so proud of her determination, and would be hugely grateful if you could give whatever you can, no matter how large or small. Every donation is valued and appreciated, and goes to the most deserving cause.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and most of all, a MASSIVE thank you to you if you are able to donate! ☺
