Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

A committee of Ingleton residents have joined together to raise awareness about defibrillators, what they are, where they are, how to use them, and also to raise funds to install more around the village.  We are raising funds using the just giving website with SADS UK who in turn are helping us to purchase the defibrillators for the village.  Monies from other forms of offline fundraising will be ring fenced and held in the local community association charity's bank account. Although this money has not been sent to SADS UK it is shown so that you can see the projects total funding

The aim of Ingleton's Save a Life Project is to have an effective community of people in Ingleton who are able to resuscitate in a cardiac arrest situation.  A cardiac arrest occurs when the normal electrical activity which controls the heart is replaced by chaotic disorganised electrical rhythm, the heart stops beating effectively and the circulation of blood stops.  The only thing that can return the heart back to its normal rhythm is a high energy electric shock, this shock needs to be delivered by a defibrillator.  Defibrillators can be used by lay people, they are safe and will not allow a shock to be given unless the heart needs it.  The problem is that for every minute that goes by without CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and defibrillation the persons chance of survival is reduced by 7 - 10%, this is why it is important that we know what to do, where the defibrillators are and that they are accessible around the village.  The defibrillators will be sited on the outside of buildings so that they are accessible at all times, each defibrillator and external cabinet costs £1424.  If you are a UK tax payer please donate through this site otherwise contact a committee member.

We will also be offering training and awareness sessions about defibrillators at the Community Centre on the following dates,  a small voluntary donation of £2.50 to cover costs will be appreciated.

Thursday 23rd April;  Friday 19th July;  Wednesday 19th August;  Thursday 3rd September;  Monday 28th September;   Tuesday 13th October;  Tuesday 3rd November;  Friday 20th November and Thursday 10th December.

As you all know Ingleton is a small rural village with a strong community spirit and sense of responsibility, this is something that we can all do together and potentially affects us all.
