We are here for every cat to keep them happy, healthy and safe.

Story

Please help one-eyed kitten Mikey who has had such a
terrible start to his short life.

Mikey was found straying with his mum and litter mates, homeless, hungry and suffering from cat flu.

Cats Protection’s Isle of Wight Adoption Centre came to their rescue on the 1st July.

Veterinary care was provided through the use of antibiotics and eye drops, and of course lots of TLC! Sadly, there were structural abnormalities to Mikey’s eye, causing it to look abnormal and putting him at high risk of developing painful ulcerations to the surface of his eye. The vets were also concerned he could be at risk of developing eye cancer too. Therefore, the difficult decision was made to remove Mikey’s eye.

This sweet little boy really needs
your help on his road to recovery.  If you could donate
to Mikey's Just Giving page to help him, and other cats like him, we
would be very grateful.

We are determined to get little Mikey on the road to recovery, and ultimately
find him a loving, happy home when he is back to full health.

As you can imagine, an operation like this can cost a significant amount for our charity, in this case in excess of £700. Cats Protection receives no government funding, therefore we rely solely on the donations of kind supporters to ensure cats like Mikey get the best chance in life. We never put a healthy cat to sleep and Mikey has a happy life ahead of him when we are able to find him a new home. We would very much appreciate any donation you feel you can give to the Isle of Wight Adoption Centre for Mikey’s care. Every penny helps.

It will be many weeks before Mikey will be available for adoption. So we can prioritise caring for him and the other cats and kittens at our centre, we won’t be accepting any adoption
requests at this time.

Any funds raised above and beyond our target will be used to
help other cats and kittens in our care at the Isle of Wight Adoption Centre.
