Story

This year we will be involved in a number of events supporting Sheffield Children's Hospital.

Our son Jack has been under the care of SCH since the beginning of April 2018 and during this time we have seen and experienced first hand the amazing work that they do.

Back in May of 2018 our son Jack was diagnosed with Diffuse Midline Glioma which is an aggressive cancer of the brain stem. After several operations and multiple rounds of chemotherapy, sadly the cancerous infection, returned home with his family around him. He is our hero x

Jack enjoyed his time at home we were comforted in the knowledge that Jack was completely pain free. He was mostly asleep but we still enjoyed the occasional glimpse of his cheeky humour and wonderful smile.

Jack sadly passed away on October 26th, surround by his family.

Jack has spent most of his time on Ward 5 as his symptoms have meant that he has to have an EVD inserted into his brain to release huge pressure brought on by the cancerous infection in his head.

This ward is not directly benefiting from the 'new build' work that has recently been complete that you may have seen in the media. As well as needing a general refurb, they need the simple things like working TV's, new toys to play with & cool things for kids to do. All this needs to be updated to keep our kids entertained in their moment that matters.

We will always be eternally grateful for the love and support that all staff at Sheffield Children's Hospital have given us. Particularly we will be forever in debt to the nurses and support staff on Ward 5 (the old S2). What they do is nothing short of amazing and makes a real difference on the front line.

A huge amount of thanks goes out also to the other supporting services & departments. Physiotherapy, Psychology, HDU, ICU, Neuro, Play Therapists, Catering, Housekeeping, Oncology, ID even the Giggle Doctors....... they each play the most valuable role.

"Gratitude is the memory of the heart" - we will forever be grateful to Sheffield Children's Hospital.

Making a donation will make a difference, it will go straight to Ward 5 specifically. Please give what you can.

The heartfelt love and support we have received from family & friends has been invaluable.

Thank you to everyone x
