Who are we?

We are three students at the University of Kent who are all involved within Scouting and Guiding. We really wanted to take Jailbreak as an opportunity to give back to a local charity who have helped many disabled and terminally ill children throughout Essex. As a disabled scout myself, and recently appointed Assistant County Commissioner for Inclusion and Diversity, I wanted to prove that you can achieve anything no matter the circumstances. Scouts and guides rock! Be ready for lots of selfies and updates with our scarves on around the world!

What is Jailbreak?

Jailbreak is an event where you are given 36 hours, with no money, to get as far away as possible from campus. This is done through companies, sponsorship, begging, busking and persuading the lovely public to help us on our way on the day! We are aiming for New Jersey to meet the four American scouts that we hosted following the Essex Jamboree last year! Please note that all donations to this page go to the charity, and not towards our travelling! Any help with lifts, private jets and all those helicopters we know you have will be fantastic! We want to prove that scouts and guides can achieve anything!

Who are 'Wipe Away Those Tears'?

They are a "charity which aims to grant a wish and bring a sparkle into the lives of terminally or seriously children in Essex. They have no overheads or administration costs so every penny that is raised go towards helping very special children". Wipe Away Those Tears is especially close to us as a group as they helped out a scout within our troop who suffers with Muscular Dystrophy. The difference was extraordinary and I couldn't think of a better charity to raise money for! Every penny we make will make a difference!
