Boys In Mind
Campaign by The Charlie Waller Trust (RCN 1109984)
We aim to empower boys and young men to talk about their emotions in a safe and healthy manner, to promote positive images of boys and young men, and to embrace and celebrate diversity.

Story

As someone that has been running for a few years, I am incredibly excited to be running the 2019 Cardiff Half Marathon next month. In the process, I will be raising money for the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust, which runs Boys In Mind. As someone that is aware of the positive impact running can have on a persons mental health, I believe supporting this charity is vital to help raise awareness of the struggles young men go through.

Boys In Mind is a youth-led strategy working in particular with boys and young men to challenge stereotypes and empower young men to talk about their emotions and wellbeing in a safe and healthy manner. We are working with schools and other organisations to develop films and other resources. https://boysinmind.co.uk/films/We also provide training events to help school and multi-agency teams understand the issues. We feel it is important for all the staff in a school to receive awareness-raising training so that a whole school approach can be developed. This is important as boys tell us that just small pockets of negativity can make it feel unsafe to talk.
