Story
Jamie :
When someone at Dayinsure suggested a charity bike ride from London to Paris I jumped at the chance.
3 days of wearing sexy skin-tight lycra, buying at least 1 new pair of trainers and catching a tan on Holiday in France. What more motivation did I need!?! My Dad was less enthusiastic, but with a little peer pressure (I'm sure he'd call it bullying) he agreed to join us on this Dayinsure adventure!
However, it soon dawned on me what I had let myself in for!
Almost 200 miles, 700ft inclines, and months of training in cold wet England, It suddenly didn't sound as appealing. And that was before I realised how unflattering lycra is (note to self invest in more socks).
So why am I putting my body (especially my cute bum) through this torture?
In short to support families dealing with children with cancer (The Joshua Tree).
A fantastic local charity who support families experiencing childhood cancer ensuring that life remains as normal as possible through an incredibly traumatic time. The money raised will go towards building a new Support Centre, specially designed to meet the needs of the children and their families.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and hopefully your generosity, I wheelie appreciate your support.
Cheers!
John :
As someone with dodgy knees who's never cycled further than 10 miles (and never worn lycra in my life - honest!), I find myself well and truly outside my comfort zone.
But the chance to get involved in a team event in support of a great local charity was too strong a pull to resist. So I've got a bike and got myself kitted out, and, although it's hard work, I'm enjoying it much more than I thought I would.
Any support you can give, however small, will be gratefully received - by me, our friends at The Joshua Tree, and all the families your support will enable them to help.
Thank you!
John.
