I belong to Lace Wars which is an 18th Century re-enactment group specialising in the Jacobite rising of 1745 led by Bonnie Prince Charlie.
Every December we commemorate the march of Bonnie Prince Charlie and his army at Swarkestone Bridge, Derby, which was the southernmost point they reached before turning back to the Highlands.
This year I have decided to make part of that march tracing the footsteps of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s army. Starting from St Ann’s church Manchester through to Swarkestone Bridge Derby. All in all a distance of around 70 miles.
I will be wearing authentic Jacobite clothing and footwear and will only be taking a few essentials for overnight stays in B&B's and Inns on the route.
I've raised money before for the Rainbow children's trust in 2009 and so thought it would be great to try and raise some money for children's hospices in both Manchester and Derby.
As Christmas approaches I hope everyone will give generously. I intend to raise awareness through media coverage, local newspapers etc to increase all those much needed donations.
