Story
Hello and welcome to my funding page!
I’m excited to say that I am going to be completing the 3 Peaks challenge on Sunday 5th June 2022!
This challenge is where participants climb the 3 highest mountain summits within 24 hours. I will be starting in Scotland where I will climb the highest of the 3, Ben Nevis, with the summit standing at 1345m. Then it is straight down for a drive to the Lake District where I will summit the 978m Scafell Pike, then finally it is a long drive to Wales where I will summit the final of the 3 mountains, Mount Snowden, which stands at 1085m! Once I get back down to the base of Snowden, the challenge is complete and timer can be stopped!
My main reason for doing this is fitness. For those who work with me, or even just remotely know me..I have not been the best in terms of my fitness. Since November of 2021, I have completely quit smoking, started home cooking, started going for 4K runs and cut down on energy drinks. So this challenge being a result of my fitness craze as well as watching Nims do the 14 highest peaks in the world challenge, what a hero!
The charity I have chosen to fundraise for is Call4Backup. We often overlook the affects certain jobs can have on our mental well-being, and it is our responsibility as Officers to look out for one another, no matter what force they serve. As much as policing is one of the greatest jobs you can chose to do as your career, it is a given that you are going to have to deal with some horrible stuff, the stuff that the majority of people will never have to see in their life. But we go to all these incidents with the upmost professionalism and get the job done. However, sometimes it’s hard to just completely shut out that incident and we may find ourselves needing support. This charity is run by officers, for officers, supporting all police, serving and retired, up and down the country.
Call4Backup is a UK Police Peer Support Charity who help serving and volunteer members of the Police Service with issues they may be suffering with a view to improve their overall well-being and reducing sickness in the service by improving the speed in which they return to full work.
