I'm doing it all again to raise money for Retina Australia's Do it in the Dark campaign raising funds and awareness to support people like me living with an Inherited Retinal Disease. The generosity from last year has encouraged me to set a very ambitious target for this year! 

To raise funds, I am planning a 6 day Easter themed bake off starting on Easter Monday. To ensure the baking doesn't go to waste, at the end of the six days I'll be hosting a visually impaired Easter egg hunt! Retina Australia have provided special glasses that will allow you to share the experience of those with IRD and make the hunt all the more challenging. There will be Easter eggs for the kids and wine bottles for the adults!

As most of you know this fundraiser is a personal one for me because I am living with an Inherited Retinal Disease: Retinitis Pigmentosa.

Don’t let the sexy name fool you, it’s an absolute menace. Despite being a genetic condition, no one else in my family has it so I was  the diagnosis was a shock. The condition manifests as tunnel vision with some other delightful effects which make me completely useless in the dark and have meant this year I've had to give up driving. 

There are ~300 known genes that can cause this condition. There are no treatments yet for most of those genes but there is amazing research being developed all the time that I want to support and I hope you'll join me in that.
