We wanted to run the Great Scottish Run, but in not unusual form for us, having spent months training, we misunderstood when the closing date was, and missed the cut off date for general applications :-s.
Still very keen to run, and having intended to run for a charity anyway, we started looking for a charity that still had charity places available and would take us on their team.
Of all of the charities advertised as holding charity partner status and therefore holding a number of charity places in the run, only the MS Society Scotland had places available.
Not knowing much about multiple sclerosis, or the work of MS Society Scotland before accepting places to run for them, we are now really, genuinely glad we are.
MS is a horrible, slippery illness which affects everyone differently, and has neither a known cause nor cure. Symptoms usually start when people are in their 20s and 30s (i.e. arguably prime time) and shockingly it affects almost three times as many women as men. There are over 11,000 sufferers in Scotland, making MS more common in Scotland than most other countries in the world.

We are convinced that among lots of really, very good causes this is one worth supporting. If you agree, we would be really grateful for any donation you can make.
