I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, last year at the age of 36. I've lived a healthy life-style all my life and this was totally unexpected. Words really can't describe how we felt after my diagnosis, suffice to say life really was turned upside down. Thanks to the fantastic and professional team at the Belfast City Hospital I was treated promptly and effectively and am now beginning to move forwards again. 

Cancer affects 1 in 2 of us in our lifetime. It doesn't discriminate. It can happen anyone. When it does it always sends shockwaves through the lives of those affected and their loved ones, and these ripples remain for quite a while after the dust begins to settle. I'm raising money for Macmillan to try and raise awareness. 

Please, please, please check yourself, know yourself and go to your doctor early and don't be afraid or embarrassed. Early detection really does save lives. Also, treatment for all stages of cancer is advancing every single day and outcomes are getting  better. 

Not everyone is as lucky as me and what keeps me going through training is the fact that "I get to do this...". I want to give something back this year and I am going to raise money for Macmillan who offer loads of support to those affected by cancer. I'm competing in Ironman Copenhagen on the 18th August 2019. That's a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and just a wee marathon (26.2miles) after all that. ;-) Any tiny donation is very welcome.
