Raising money for ME, CFS, Fibromyalgia research

Story

Thank you for taking a look at my fundraising page and for considering supporting The Optimum Health Clinic.

Throughout January I’ll be raising money for the clinic, here’s why.

My story is pretty typical in how I got ill. Shortly after my 30th birthday I got an infection, nothing particularly exotic just a bacterial infection in my throat, but unlike most infections like this I didn’t recover. Even after all signs of any infection had gone I was still very poorly – there were times I didn’t leave the bedroom, long periods where I could only manage stairs by going down on my backside – I lived like this for over 3 years many others do so for decades.

I was diagnosed with ME/CFS, the doctors I met shrugged their shoulders as they couldn’t help and everyone I came into contact with at the NHS told me to expect to be ill for the rest of my life. The ME/CFS team at my local NHS service did help, I stabilised my symptoms and my quality of life improved but I wasn’t getting any better, and recovery was never an option.

When I came across the Optimum Health Clinic (OHC) it was the first time I’d seen anything close to what would explain what was happening to my body. They didn’t claim to be a miracle cure but they did talk about recovery, their approach is backed up by research and they have many past patients who are recovered. I signed up to their treatment programme and am now well over a year without a single symptom, I live a full life, I work full time, enjoy a social life and go on holidays all with no payback, no symptoms.

I wish I had access to the OHC’s  expertise and support sooner and will be fundraising to help others access the level of support needed to recover.

I’m doing something every day throughout January that I couldn’t when I was ill and many who are ill can’t. I aim to show both sides of the picture; how simple things that we all take for granted are so challenging when you have this condition - and being the proof that the treatment programme works by doing things that are physically and mentally challenging and would have been beyond comprehension when I was ill.

Please help raise money for a clinical trial with the OHC treatment programme with the NHS with as little or as much as you can so that when someone receives a diagnosis, they can have a future and can have the hope of making a full recovery.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, follow my progress on this page or follow the OHC Facebook page.
