Who are the Jersey Brain Tumour Charity?

There are 120 different types of brain tumours and until the Jersey Brain Tumour Charity was established in 2011, there were no local organisations specifically dedicated to support patients and clients affected by benign/cancerous brain tumours. The aim of the charity is to ensure that anybody who has a level of need is well informed, supported and able to make informed decisions.

On average the charity has 2 new patients register or be known to them every month. To date it has helped over 100 families and forecast that number to be 300 families by 2017.

Brain tumours can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, background or lifestyle.

Why the charity needs help?

The Jersey Brain Tumour Charity is not States funded and relies purely on grants, donations and their own fundraising efforts to ensure the support services continue year-on-year. With the support from the local community the charity can make a real difference to those who have been touched by the challenges that a brain tumour diagnosis brings. Any help and support is gratefully received as it will make a significant difference to the services it can provide to patients.

What does the charity do?

The charity provides support to anyone living in Jersey who has been affected by a brain tumour diagnosis (benign or cancerous), be that patient, family, relative(s) or friend(s).

The aim is to:

(a)    Provide care, support, advice and information – practical, emotional and financial.
(b)    To support and compliment professional health care services, larger charities and other organisations.
(c)    To raise awareness and improve information and communicate with patients, clients and other agencies.
(d)    Establish and maximise funding streams to ensure the sustainability of the charity in the long term.

We are so honoured to be chosen to benefit from the money raises this year, every penny we receive goes towards us being able to provide the service we know is desprtely needed now and in the future. Thank you.
