  Having rehomed several battery cage hens which were headed for slaughter at only 15 months old, and seen them change from miserable, frightened and almost featherless creatures into  the very happy ladies who are now free ranging around the orchard, fat and fully feathered, living as chickens are supposed to, I would like to support the work of The British Hen Welfare Trust. This charity works to improve the lot of the most abused of all farm animals, by assisting to rehome hens destined for slaughter and actively campaigning against battery hen farming.
