We provide opportunities for people with CP to be physically active & enjoy sport.

Story

Between 15 June and 15 July 2020 a team from JMW will be covering at least 100 kilometres dressed as superheros to participate in the At Home Superheroes event and raise money for Cerebral Palsy Sport.

Some of the team have spent far too long sitting on their bums for the last few weeks while working from home so this will be no mean feat!

We've not had much time to prepare so we will be aiming for distance rather than speed but the main thing is that we will be helping people with cerebral palsy to have opportunities to participate in sport.

We may not always feel like being sporty and active but at least when we do we can participate without much difficulty. The same cannot be said for people living with movement disorder cerebral palsy and their families who need specialist equipment and support to enable them to reap the enormous benefits sport can bring to them. People with cerebral palsy, which is usually caused by an injury to the brain as a baby, can have a range of physical disabilities, ranging from mild to severe and can become isolated, as can their loved ones, so as well as helping to boost their physical health, sport can make a huge impact on their mental well-being by fostering friendships and social interactions.

That's where Cerebral Palsy Sport (http://www.cpsport.org
comes in as its specialist team is able to help people with cerebral palsy of all levels find a sport that they can participate in and enjoy. With experienced and trained instructors and equipment, working at various locations, people with cerebral palsy are enabled to grow their self-confidence and gain skills they may never have thought were possible.

In the clinical negligence team at JMW we have represented hundreds of children with cerebral palsy and some have participated in sport and reaped huge benefits. Hopefully more families will be encouraged to see what sport could offer to them.

Please help us by sparing anything you can. Every penny counts and could make a huge difference -  thank you!
