Hello everyone, some of you know me but I’m hoping to reach
others who don’t too, so I will give a brief background of my story.

Just after Christmas my husband, a few close friends and
myself set off on our Caribbean Dream, which turned out to be our worst
nightmare. I promise I’ll make it short 😊.

Boarding our impressive ship that was to be our home for the next 2 weeks, whilst we cruised around the stunning Caribbean Islands, I wasn’t feeling too well and went straight to bed.

The next day I was lying on a bed in the ship’s hospital suffering some of the worst pains I’ve ever experienced, ladies think labour pains then think tenfold, it was probably somewhere near to the pain I was experiencing. Just 2 days later I was lying in a hospital bed on the island of St Kitts, the third day saw me on a plane back to the UK. Day 4 saw me on the operating table having major surgery, waking up to find I had an Ileostomy bag.

Just one week later we sat in the surgeon’s office shell shocked at the words coming from his mouth about exactly what had been removed that was causing the horrific pain. They’d removed a tumour that was tested and we were given the devastating news it was cancer.

Now for the good news, I’m here and doing everything I can
do to battle this ugly disease with the support of my amazing family and

At present I am having aggressive chemo, the kind that makes
you lose your hair! So, I decided that rather than watch it drop out all over the house, I’m having it shaved off! After-all “bald is beautiful”

Sharing this decision and my idea of doing it to raise funds
for a charity close to my heart, I was overwhelmed that several decided to join me in this quest with their thinking “If she’s able to do it to help others who are going through the same experience, then so are we!”

So, joining me on my quest is my husband Lorenzo, father-in-Law Gino, mother-in-law Francesca, family friend Vaidas, and Niko my son. To say I’m overwhelmed at their response would be an understatement.

My intention is that on Sunday 7th July I will be shaving my head (trust me if I left it any longer it would be pointless) I believe that everyone else will be joining me except Niko, who will do his in August. All will be filmed and we will include before and after pictures, which of course will be posted on Social media.

I truly hope that you can all help me in achieving my goal
to help others in this same awful situation by contributing to our gesture, whether that be sharing our link to create awareness or donating what you can.

I will be eternally grateful!

Lots of Love, Jo
