Story

UPDATE 10th September 2014

I completed the ride of 280 miles in a total time of 24 hours and 1 minute. Despite flying through Paris as tho' on the Tour, clocking 30 mph on the Champs Elysees, I couldn't quite get under the 24 hour mark.  The daylight weather was just about ideal: bright but not too hot and almost windless; however the night was pretty grim as northern France was covered by a thick (5 metre) fog which was damp and dispiriting to ride through. Arrival under the Eiffel Tower as a pretty special moment.

A huge thank you to all those who have sponsored me

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On September 6th I will be setting off from the O2 in London and hope to arrive at the Eiffel Tower 24 hours later. (http://www.ride24hr.com/paris-24)

All money raised will be split between the Dorset Historic Churches Trust (http://www.dorsethistoricchurchestrust.co.uk/) and the Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation (http://www.rcsf.org.uk/)

The Dorset Historic Churches Trust assists, by grant or interest free loan, repairs to the fabric of Dorset's Christian churches of all denominations; and gives guidance and help in attracting other grant aid from a wide range of donors'

The Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation was formed in August 2011 to build and manage, on a not-for-profit basis, the first dedicated international cricket ground in Rwanda. Through his friendship with Alby Shale my son Rowley is an associate director of the Foundation. The charity is run by a team of cricket enthusiasts from the UK and Rwanda, in partnership with the Marylebone Cricket Club Foundation. Development of a 4.5 hectare site on the edge of Kigali, Rwanda's capital, is due to begin in October 2014. From there, the Rwanda Cricket Association can continue their excellent progress in developing the game in schools and universities as well as amongst Rwanda's most disadvantaged young people.
