Mitochondrial disease results from failures of the mitochondria which are specialised compartments present in every cell of the body.
The parts of the body, such as the heart, brain, muscles and lungs, requiring the greatest amounts of energy are the most affected. Symptoms can include inability to walk, talk, see, and digest food combined with a host of other complications.
My mum Janet has Mitochondrial disease and as some of you know this disease is effecting her lungs, which is making walking increasingly difficult for her, that's why she wants to do a sponsored walk and raise some much needed money for research.
But, Janet doesn't want to do it on her own, no way, she wants to do it with her friends and family so why don't you support Janet by sponsoring her on this site and walking with her?
Young, Old, Walk, Bike, Scooter, Dogs everyone and everything all welcome :-)
The event is on Saturday 14th July, we are meeting at 09:30 in the Axe and Cleaver car park, then walking around Dunham Park, the distance is approx 5k (3.1 miles in old money)....We then have some tables reserved in the Axe & Cleaver for when we have finished, where we are hoping you will stay and join us for some lunch.
If Janet can do it, you can do it.
