The 3rd February 2018 marks one year since my Mum passed away and in January I will have turned 40.

I thought that as a way to mark both this anniversary and celebrate my birthday that I would run further than I have ever run before, because... well... why not?!

Able Child Africa do great work in Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda helping and supporting children with disabilities and are exactly the sort of charity that Mum would have supported and is also close to my own heart.

The Ultra marathon is 34miles long with over 6000ft of climbing which is both longer and hillier than I have ever run before.  And it's in winter, which means that I will have to put in many hours of training in the cold and dark!  I am expecting this to be the toughest challenge that I have ever undertaken.  I should also add that I have been running for less than 2 years so this is all very new to me.
