On Sunday 4th March 1979 a young man, 2 years younger than me, tragically died in a traffic accident in Portsmouth. His family selflessly agreed for him to become an organ donor and, later that same day, I received one of his kidneys at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford.
Now, 40 years later, his kidney and I are still going strong
I am organising a concert at the Sundial Theatre in Cirencester to give thanks to all those people who have helped me reach this milestone; my wife, family, friends, the doctors and nurses of the NHS, but especially the anonymous family who made it possible in the first place.
The concert is detailed in the image at the top of the page, and all proceeds will be donated to the Donor Family Network.
I sing with both of the choirs appearing at the concert and I thank them all for giving their time and talent to this cause.
If you are not able to come to the concert please consider making a donation to this page, and also consider registering as an organ donor via www.organdonation.nhs.uk
