Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. It's not good enough...
We are running the 2017 London Marathon in loving memory of Geoff Madgwick - Tillie's uncle - taken from us far too soon.
Sydony Madgwick - "Geoff Madgwick was a wonderful husband, father, son and friend. My Dad was the strongest person I know. He fought a brain tumour for nearly four years and not once did he complain. He simply got on with life and lived to the full with all the people who mattered. Sadly my dad lost his battle on 9th October 2012. He was just 48 years old. Not a day passes without him being in my dreams and thoughts. He taught me so much, all of which will guide me through life. You may be gone but you'll never be forgotten."
As a family, we have worked with Brain Tumour Research over the past few years. We have held some fantastic events & raised a great deal of money in honour of Geoff. We all miss him dearly and we hope that with our help, one day, no family will have to suffer a loss like we have.
We knew that raising £6000 to run the London Marathon was going to be a challenge. We must extend a heartfelt 'thank you' to friends, family, colleagues and even people to whom we haven't spoken in years, for not only donating but also coming along and helping out at fundraisers. Without the support from others, we could never have raised this huge amount of money.
Our running total as a family and a team, now stands at over £20000 and rising...
Geoff - It's all for you. 'No longer walking beside us, but never left behind.'
