Story
Hello and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2020 I am running the London Marathon on behalf of RetinaUK. They support people affected by inherited progressive sight loss and invest in medical research to support those affected. Imagine a world where you can't read and you can't see and as a result you lose confidence in day-to-day activities, like leaving the home and going shopping. Christmas is an amazing example of where people want to celebrate, be merry and be social, but what if large, highly dense crowds result in you not wanting to participate?
I want to raise awareness for one particular condition, an untreatable Degenerative Genetic Eye Disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), the biggest cause of blindness in the working age population. RP affects around 1 in 3000-4000 people, meaning there are around 25,000 people in the UK and around 2 million people worldwide suffering from RP.
Please support me in raising at least £2,000 for such a worthwhile cause. It would mean so much if you can chip in something and have a read up on what Retina UK do. Please read my blog - https://educatingphysics.com/2020/01/07/retinitis-pigmentosa-a-hereditary-sight-loss-condition/
