Story
What's Everesting? It's a stupid idea. You cycle up the same hill until you gain the equivalent elevation of Mount Everest, in one ride, within 24hrs.
You may remember we tried Everesting in the ill fated Italy trip in 2017. We achieved it as a 3, but none of us made it to 29,030ft. So it feels like unfinished business. Now I've ended up a bit lighter during lockdown now seems as good time as any.
I'll be doing 51 laps of Sidbury Hill. That's the one out of Sidbury towards the Hare and Hound. I'll be turning at the top, well before the hare and hound. Strava segment showing the hill is here: https://strava.app.link/KXbnLmw007
If all goes well it'll take 18hours. I can't see it getting below 16hrs best case!! That's the same hill from about 6am, hopefully done by midnight.
Despite its apparent recent rise in popularity with a few pros taking lumps out of an Everesting world record it's not to be under estimated. In Italy me and Steve got to 22,000ft and it was as much our minds that had gone after 15hrs when it got dark again.
With out doubt it will be the hardest day I've had on a bike. I'm expecting it to make a 100mile day up Mt Ventoux a ride to the sea front.
Why raise money for the MS society again ? After seeing what MS has done to Emma's mum over the years it's an easy choice. MS affects everyone in different ways, in summary it's a degenerative illness with physical and neurological affects. MS is a real tw*t. All charities are struggling right now with big fund raising events called off globally, so anything you want to give will help.
If you don't want to sponsor me come and ride some laps and offer support.
