Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We are the Grandmas who walked through Galicia to Santiago de Compostela in 2013 in memory of Anna and to raise funds for research into Alpers', and in the hope that one day a cure may be found. For our original story  go to http://www.justgiving.com/grandmaspilgrimage

Last year we returned to Spain and  walked on from Santiago to the coast at Finisterre, on to Muxia, and eventually back to Santiago., bringing our total walked for the two years to 480 km.

So what next?! Not Spain this time, but soon we plan to walk in the steps of the Canterbury Pilgrims, from Winchester to Canterbury - maybe not taking quite the same route as they did if we are to avoid motorways, airports etc, but first by St Swithin's Way and then the North Downs Way. The distance will be similar, again something over 200km, and the challenges may be different this time - will it rain even more than it can in Galicia? - will we find such welcoming overnight refuges? Will we meet such wonderful companions?  Who knows.

One thing we do know is that we shall be spurred on by the support we receive - please cheer us on, join us for a stretch if you like (and raise funds too!) As always. donations to the vital work of Gosh's Mitochondrial Reseach Team will make a huge difference - thank you for everything so far, and thank you again now!
