We fund research and offer support to beat the isolation of macular disease

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I took the plunge and decided to take part in the Great North Run this year to raise awareness and much needed funds for this little heard of disease - macular degeneration.  As a sufferer, knowing that I WILL slowly loose my sight is such a frightening prospect that feels like a form of torture that nobody can understand - there's no timescale to when symptoms will change, could be another 40 years or it could be tomorrow, only time will tell and until then I have to live with my vision permanently distorted as a constant reminder of my future.  As macular degeneration is usually something that affects the elderly there really are no answers for me.

I'm hoping to raise much needed funds and awareness of this disease so hopefully, if not by the time my sight declines too much, then for future generations to have a treatment so that a diagnosis will mean treatment and possible prevention of sight loss.

Thank you so much for reading.  If you are able to donate, no matter how small, I would be so grateful, I really do appreciate every penny to help this charity.
