Story
*FURTHER UPDATE - Due to the pandemic we are still not able to stay in the accommodation to allow us to carry out the Scafell Pike challenge again this year. Instead we are going to undertake a local hiking challenge instead on the planned date 13 June 2021.
We are now planning to undertake the Minton Batch & Long Mynd Circular walk. This is a longer distance of 16.4km but a lesser elevation of 484m and takes in a variety of inclines, footpaths, waterways and amazing views of the South Shropshire countryside. We will be starting and finishing at Church Stretton and hope to complete the walk in less time than it would have taken us to complete Scafell Pike. As we have not been very active throughout the pandemic this will be quite a challenge for us.*
Scafell Pike, at 978 metres, is England's highest mountain and war memorial, cared for by the National Trust as a result of a gift after the war.
We will be travelling up to the Lake District the night before to get a good rest to prepare us for a reasonably early start on Saturday 12 June. We are starting out from Wasdale Head and expect the hike to take around 6 hours (fingers crossed). The route is approx 9km and is the steepest of the available routes so is expected to be challenging both on the ascent and descent.
We are hoping to meet our target of £500 and appreciate all your support.
