Castle Howard Triathlon 2019 · 20 July 2019 to 21 July 2019 ·

Family Fund believes that all families raising disabled and seriously ill children should have the same opportunities as others. With our grants and services we aim to help break down many of the barriers these families face, improving their quality of life and easing the additional daily pressures.

Story

So here we go again - it is office fundraising time, doing daft things!

Fran, Rebecca and I all work in the same team in the York office of LGSCO. I am swimming 800m in the main lake, Fran is cycling 46k around the estate and Rebecca is running 8k in the grounds at Castle Howard in the Sprint Triathlon Brideshead Revisited, on Sunday 20 July.

I love swimming but open water is totally new to me and a bit daunting. But I am inspired by my two team-mates as they are both fab athletes, so I won't let them down!

We are doing this for another great cause this year, our office charity, Family Fund.

Family Fund provides grants and services to families on low incomes raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people. Last year, they provided 88,407 grants or services to families throughout the UK, but want to help more. Their ambition is to provide 150,000 grants and services by 2022, and they need your support to achieve this.

We will give the event our best shot and will finish respectably having had a great experience and, I hope, some fun!

Please sponsor us - THANK YOU! If you also fancy a good day out in a glorious setting, please come along and support us - I plunge in at 9.00am and we hope to cross the finish line between 11.30am - 12noon - fingers crossed! If you can also arrange perfect weather - dry, not too hot and no wind - brilliant!

As Sir Steve Redgrave once (or twice?) said - "if you catch me in a [sprint tri relay] again - shoot me!"
