My Father is now 90 years old and served his country through WWII as a Lancaster Bomber Engineer, experiencing many psychological challenges. He has never talked much about his experiences but was affected by seeing fellow RAF crew die in his arms or other planes shot down, planes that never returned to base and mess tables being empty. My Father now has Dementia and Alzheimer's and is a resident of a nursing home. He often thinks he is back in WWII or strangely that he is abroad on holiday, such is the difficulty of Alzheimer's.
The only organisation who have been there for us as a family has been RAFA. Their immense personal support to Dad and their ethos in supporting those who flew is incredible and therefore I would like to raise money for this amazing charity. My father was lucky, he could afford to own his own home after WWII, he had a loving family around him, especially our Mum who we lost to cancer 18 years ago, but many serving men and women do not have that experience and therefore it is important that we support RAFA so that RAFA can support those ex-service personnel who are not as fortunate as my Father.
I am not asking you for very much at all, just an online secure donation of 50p would build up to be a lovely donation to RAFA and would help our ex-service men and women from previous wars and those who will retire from current service in the future.
Thank you so much for listening to my Father's story. Whether you can or cannot afford to donate, could you please share this donation page through Social Media, personal and work emails if appropriate or by any other means so that as many people as possible have the opportunity to donate if they wish to.
I am going to start the fundraising off with a personal donation and hope you can help via donations either yourself or through those you know. 50p is not very much money but lots of 50 pence's will help RAFA help current and future ex-service men and women in need. Please share.
