My son Isaac was born at 26 weeks weighing a tiny 1lb 11ozs. He was delivered via emergency C section at QA hospital in Portsmouth and was very poorly at first after a complex delivery. After 6 weeks in intensive care there he moved to St Richards Hospital, on 8th March 2015. He was then cared for in their neonatal unit until he came home 7 weeks later weighing 5lbs exactly and a week before his due date. Without the outstanding medical care that he received at both hospitals but specifically here the amazing medical and emotional support that we all received whilst at St Richards and in the early weeks at home I know that Isaac would not be the happy and thriving toddler he is now. Isaac was three in January this year and every year at this time I am reminded of the amazing journey that we all witnessed and of the amazing people who helped us to eventually take our boy home and to feel like we were a family. I decided to set myself a challenge to be able to run 5K by Isaac's actual birthday - 29th January this year and then aim to reach 10K by the date he should have been born - 8th May. I have entered the Bognor 10K on the 20th May to officially mark that goal. I would really like your support to raise as much money as I can between now and then for the neonatal unit at St Richards who rely heavily on donations and fundraising for life saving equipment and specialist staff to support families both during and after their time in hospital. The more money I raise, the faster I'll run!!! Thank you!
