Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Read about the Wobbleberries Challenge here http://www.wobbleberries.com/the-challenge

Just in case anyone is in any doubt, this will be a massive challenge for me!  I am the Wobbleberry definition of middle aged, wimpy rider - in my forties, fat, unfit and quite happy pottering around the lanes (possibly ending up in the pub!), or having the occasional blast up the hill. I had lessons as a child (until age 11), had lessons again for a year in my late twenties until a nasty fall and a change in circumstances stopped me, and started riding again 5 years ago, but it's taken me a long time to build up even a small amount of confidence. I still won't canter in the school unless there's someone else there to call an ambulance, due to the welsh cobs liking for pretending he's the 'wall of death' fairground attraction! :P

I have lessons because I want to be a better rider, but I have never competed (apart from a couple of in hand shows with the spotty mare), never done dressage, never jumped a course of showjumps, or been near a cross country course on the back of a horse.  I am, in short, an occasional happy hacker.  Yanto (my welsh cob) is 21 (going on 5!), and thinks he's in semi retirement.  He holds a very dim view of flatwork, but he does like jumping.  He did more of this when ridden by brave teenagers, but not so much since he got loaned to me...

So this will involve a lot of dieting (me), getting fit (both of us), training in all 3 disciplines (both of us), confidence (me), anger management (Yant), time management (me), leaving the yard (Yant - who hasn't travelled since he arrived 16 years ago) and more to the point, me riding more than once a fortnight... (This may be where Yant's anger management will come in) ;)

However, when you look at what Hannah Francis went through, and her attitude and response to adversity, along with her determination to make every day that she had count, and to help others even when she was in pain herself, it makes all the above seem trivial.  Her story is best read in her own words, and can be found here: https://www.willberrywonderpony.org/our-stories/hannahs-story/ Sadly, Hannah passed away on 1st August 2016, but she left as a legacy the Willberry Wonder Pony charity whose aims are to fund research into osteosarcoma and to grant equine related wishes to seriously ill people (not limited to those with cancer) and their families.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Just as a note - all money raised here will be going to the charity.  Costs incurred for meeting this challenge (training, equipment etc) will be met by me.

Thank you for reading
