Some of you will have heard about the story of Hannah Francis and her mascot 'Willberry the Wonder Pony'. Hannah sadly lost her battle with bone cancer almost 2 years ago and I have joined a team of 'Wobbleberries' to raise money for bone cancer research to help seriously ill people.

As many of you may only have a little 'horsey' knowledge I feel I must explain that I have taken up the challenge to complete a One Day Event (the equivalent of a triathlon but in this case - a dressage test/a showjumping round/ followed by cross-country all on the same day!)

The name 'Wobbleberry' is a very accurate description and is aimed at a group of wimpy middle aged riders (like me) to seriously challenge  themselves and raise money for Hannah at the same time!

This really will be the equivalent of climbing a mountain as since acquiring Chloe's horse it has been a very slow progress taking me over a  year to feel brave enough to canter let alone jump multiple fences. Steering and lack of brakes has often been an issue as this horse is rather big and long and so it often feels a bit like trying to manouvre an oil tanker at speed! And I can confirm it's a long way to the ground and I definitely don't bounce as well as I did 25 years ago! But I am going to give it another go this weekend and hope to complete my challenge at the Pachesham ODE.

So please support me in my aim to raise money for Bone Cancer Research.

About the charity

The Charity was established by talented horse rider, Hannah Francis, following her diagnosis with the aggressive form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma. People all over the world followed Hannah's story which she told through her mascot, Willberry. Tragically Hannah passed away at just 18 years old.
