Story
In 1993 our lovely dad was diagnosed with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) and for as long as we can remember he has coped with this without complaint or self-pity. At the beginning of this year, on a routine visit to the hospital to see his consultant, he was told that there had been a significant decline in his kidney function and that he required either dialysis or a transplant.
Thanks to the amazing team at the QE hospital in Birmingham dad has been put into the transplant program. Our mum has bravely offered dad one of her kidneys, and we are hopeful that this process will take place within the next few months.
In honor of this momentous event the Baynes children have decided to participate in the British 10K London run on 12th July. None of us are renowned for our athletic abilities but we would like to raise money for the Kidney Research foundation in support of our incredible parents.
it is because of this charities research that our Dad is where he is today and all being well will one day have three times as many kidneys as our Mum – running 10K seems like a small price to pay!
