DONE DONE DONE - bike ride over!!::

Ok I've done it - the 250 miles from London to Paris - for the Big Issue:
1. Day One - London to Portsmouth (85 miles): tough, wet, hilly, v tough, made it eventually
2. Day Two - (Now in France) Caen to Bernay (60 miles): kids sick on ferry, nice, warmer in france than rubbish english weather
3. Day Three - Bernay to Paris, long stretches, beautiful, fields of long grass, satisfied with world
4. Day Four - watched tour de france, almost got arrested for climbing up a bank, didn't, got home safely!

Check out photos of the trip at:

11/05/07 - Am getting my bike today that I'll use for the trip, have a look at and check it out. Have sorted out a gym plan - 4 times a week - and once I have the bike I'll be pounding the streets at every opportunity.

13/05/07 - Got my bike!! Photo up shortly of it - it's a Trek Fx 7.5 disc w racing tires with slight tread. Came home from work and cycled it straight away, even though it was 1.30 in the morning!

19/05/07 - Had my bike for a week and have been using it to go to school, work etc - have cycled 70 miles this week, also used so much less petrol.

20/05/07 - Went to the Big Issue training day. Met in the offices above the ELC in Richmond at 9 and listened to various important info for about 2 hours. Then went for a 25 mile ride with the group, which I decided I'd push myself in. By the end I was knackered. Good fun tho.

26/5/07 - Cycled Weybridge to Kingston (to get a birthday present!)

27/05/07 - Cycled a lot, it rained, I got wet - I think I might buy a coat.

28/05/07 - I've launched a FaceBook page and a group titled 'London to Paris Summer '07' to publicise what I'm doing and to raise more money for the Big Issue Foundation. Search my name in the Facebook search engine, I should come up, and add me as a friend. Thanks to everyone whos already in the group - 8 members and growing!

29/05/07 - Long cycle ride tomorrow, following the Thames, Weybridge to however far I go w Harry, keep you posted....

30/05/07 - Ok, did 40miles round Hampton Court, Kingston, Richmond Park area; cold, wet, cold, wet, up, down - all good! Also facebook group up to 15 members....

18/06/07 - 10 days absence from the blog! Feels like a long time. The target has been met - £1200! - now, unsurprisingly and unrelentlessly, I want more. Thank you!

Thanks for coming to this page!

I'm doing this for the Big Issue in the summer - cycling 250 miles from London to Paris.

I'm aiming to raise a minimum of £1200, any more is a bonus! Please give as much as you can!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Big Issue Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

If you'd like to sponsor me offline then either email - - or phone/text me - and let me know how much money you can sponsor me with - cheques can be made payable to the Big Issue Foundation (please send to me first though) and I'll add you to the sponsor list and you can give the money at a later date, before 22nd June.

Sponsor as much as you can!

It's going to a good cause, so dig deep...thank you!
