This is a general donations page to cover the period 2017 to 2020, while another charity, Abhayaratna Trust, are covering half of my support needs with two annual donations of £6,000.
Thanks for considering donating to my support! What you give here gets passed to me by the Charity 'Triratna Chairs'.
...But you could save JustGiving's 5% fee and donate directly to 20-08-44 40442259 (or use PayPal, at https://www.paypal.me/Kamalashila) -- though note that on JustGiving UK taxpayers can increase donations by 25% using GiftAid. I'll update any direct donations, apart from the Abhayaratna donations mentioned above, manually on this page.
Please note that Standing Orders are especially welcome!
My contribution to the world is in teaching, practising, writing and other Dharma activities. I've been teaching all my adult life, I don't plan to stop, and I don't charge (though institutions may charge independently). I love the way it brings me into contact with many people, like you. So if you have appreciated what I do, please help me continue. What do I need? Well, I'll be 70 in April 2019. I have a freedom pass and £41.63 state pension. Living lightly in London costs me £12000 a year. This goes on rent, gas, electricity, council tax, internet, phone, clothes, teeth, glasses etc.. Of this, about £10,000 has to come from dana. I can currently manage to maintain a savings buffer only of £2-3000, so I need to be careful.
My health has changed a little in the last couple of years. I have recently been diagnosed with MS. This has left most of my body numb, my feet in particular. I also seem to be succumbing to chest ailments more than usual and likely have COPD. I have therefore decided to take a couple of years out of active teaching to do more personal practice and retreat. I intend to return to teaching. I am still a member of the Triratna Preceptors College and a public preceptor, though I am inactive in these roles at present.. Normally I lead retreats and study groups in UK, USA and in Europe, teach meditation, give talks, write and see a lot of people. I'm KS Kamalashila on Facebook and my email is firstname.lastname@example.org. I continue with morning meditation from 7:30am at the West London Buddhist Centre. You may be able to find out more from my site dharmadoor.org as well as the WLBC website.
Can you help support me? Small or large, it's all helpful.
