Story
After a fantastic first visit to Santa Pod race way for the Easter Thunder Ball 2009, I was just SO IMPRESSED. The sport, staff and facilities, especially for disabled people, were ALL FANTASTIC. As someone that was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis over 15 years ago I then decided to see if I could, some how, get on the drag racing track too! (For more information about my personal story Please Visit: www.kazaston.com)
Darren Prentice, FIA Race Director from Santa Pod Raceway in Northampton was only happy to help and kindly arranged a passenger thrill ride in Santa Pod's 2-Seater Dragster, at The Summer Nationals (14/6/2009). This incredible 9.8 litre racing dragster produces 1000 horsepower! After my doctor gave the go ahead, there was no looking back. The ride was TRULY AMAZING and I was also blessed to have a top UK racing driver, Jon Webster and his team all looking after me before and after my 7 seconds of superb drag racing.
Nitro FM, Santa Pod's radio station, were also so supportive and gave me an opportunity to talk about multiple sclerosis and the MS Trust, and to meet other top UK drag racing teams, some of which also support the MS Awareness Raising. This is fantastic motor racing with real, friendly people that are always happy to help.
As a result of my first drag racing experience, am now together with Nigel Fitzmaurice at Nitro FM with Caroline Day -PR Lead at Santa Pod to continue my personal MS Awareness Raising mission. Here is what I've been to at Santa pod in 2009. Headlines below (just some of the amazing support given to me) from:
Gary Page with the Mongoose & Pennzoil Racing Team at The FIA European Finals
Les Harris & the Super Twins Racing Team at The UK National Finals
Nigel Holland with his amazing Photography
Freddy’s Revenge, The Wild Bunch, Shock Wave & expert commentator Paul Venners.
The Latest Exciting News… Gordon Northway, my boy friend who first took me drag racing in 2009, has set up a new drag racing team, “TEAM EDGE” Gordon with his car "THE EDGE" racing in 2010 to Raise Awareness about MS. Team Edge also has a Second Vehicle, “Enigma” that I plan to be racing! Trans World Sport TV start Filming at my story our First Team Edge Track Test & Tune Day at Santa pod very soon.
