Ten years ago I ran (well finished anyway) the Bristol Half Marathon for Gap, several months ago I had the mad idea to commemorate this by doing another. Ten years older, and certainly not much fitter. Still, I'm stubborn and will complete it, in some kind of shape!! The only difference is that this time I know exactly how hard it is!!
Greyhound Gap means a lot to me, I've been involved with them almost since their start, without Gap I wouldn't have had my beautiful heart dog Skye, now sadly passed on. We've since fostered and adopted several times over the years, and although Gap dogs seem to share a unique sense of craziness, Lisa and the team really make sure that each and every dog is given every possible chance of a loving forever home. Whatever needs to be done physically or mentally is done, and Gap truly do provide back up for life, something some larger rescues sadly don't. Along with our own 3 Gap hounds Denzil, Missy & Flynn we currently have two sponsor dogs living out their lives with us. Debbie and Best had a very difficult life, and at 13 years of age found themselves back in kennels, very nervous and unused to other dogs. It's safe to say that their life now is very different, they love being around the other dogs and are enjoying the life they should have had for all those years, thanks to Gap stepping in and saving them. Recently they've both had to have surgery for different things, and as always Gap never quibbled or hesitated - if it needs to be done then it's done, so I know first hand just how important each and every dog is to Gap.
Gap literally saves the lives of hundreds of dogs, dogs that would otherwise be put to sleep because they were abandoned by the people who should have been caring for them. Every single penny will really make a difference, so thank you very much for every donation, it really means a lot.
