Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As most of you know, my husband Phil has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). For those that don't this diagnosis has come after a year of struggling to use arms, over the past few months this has steadily got worse, being an ex-rugby league player for Keighley Cougars and active person this has been tough for him. Although he can no longer play rugby he still coaches rugby league to children under 12 including our own son.
The road ahead is going to be really tough for all of us as this disease progresses to the rest of his body but the MND Association will be there for us every step of the way to ensure he achieves the best quality of life, they can only do this for us and other families facing this cruel disease through people's generous contributions and fundraising.

One day with vital fundraising and research there will/has to be cure for this cruel disease.

MND is a group of diseases that affect the nerves in the brain and spinal cord that tell your muscles what to do, with MND messages from theses will gradually stop reaching the muscles leading to them to weaken, stiffen and waste.

MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. It is a lift-shortening disease and there is currently no cure. Although the disease will progress, symptoms can be managed to help achieve the best possible quality of life.

A recent study has shown that living with MND costs around £12000 per year, this includes specialist equipment and home adaptation. The MND charity is campaigning to ease the financial pressures this can cause to sufferers and their families.

The MND association are working towards a cure and many people with MND are currently taking part in various drug trials and treatments. One day with vital fundraising there will be cure.

I am running the Manchester Half Marathon on October 15th along with some friends for MND, to raise vital money and awareness for this cruel disease x
