We Provide Mental Health Support to the people we serve in North East

Charity Registration No. 1164040

Story

This October, we (Kate, Liam & Laura) will be taking part in the (13.1 mile) Kielder Half Marathon, to raise funds and awareness of Anxious Minds.

We definitely aren't fit enough to be attempting this challenge, having only started jogging together last month. However, what (hopefully) doesn't kill you raises awareness of a really great cause. Each of us has struggled with anxiety/depression and know many other friends and family members battling mental health disorders.

Even in 2019, there's still far too much stigma around mental health issues. In any year, approximately 1/4 people in England experience a mental health problem. It could be your best friend. It could be your Dad. It could even be you. By completing this event, we hope to challenge this stigma, start conversations and encourage sufferers to fight for the help they deserve.

Unless you are at complete crisis point, it can seem impossible to find the right support without waiting for months. NHS waiting lists are long and private treatment can be incredibly expensive. Therefore, many people are reliant on the support of charities such as Anxious Minds.

Please donate generously to our cause!! Every single penny helps!!! We may not have grace or style, but we promise to approach this challenge with enthusiasm and will try very hard to make it to the finish line.

Anxious Minds are committed to improving mental well-being in the North East of England. They strongly believe that individuals who suffer from Mental Health problems do not receive enough support. Sufferers can often feel utterly isolated and lonely, believing that there is something wrong with them. This is not the case. Mixed anxiety and depression is the most common mental disorder in Britain. One of the aims of Anxious Minds is to connect individuals together, to take a positive step into a community of individuals who want to help.
