Story

Whilst there is a state funded education system in Uganda class sizes can be over 200 and only a fraction of the children can be reached. A number of parents are now seeking the opportunity of privately funded education for their children and this is where SEDCU comes in. SEDCU currently sponsor a number of children through their education and support a number of local projects including arts and crafts for deaf and blind children and local Scouting.

In 2017 Lee and I ran the London Marathon to support one of the local schools to have a new water tank. The access to water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation has been such a positive addition to school life: One we take for granted.

In 2019 I am going to take on my biggest physical and mental challenge yet: A middle distance Triathlon. 1.2 mile open water swim, 56 mile bike ride, and 13.1 mile run. All together. On the same day. In Lycra.

I am doing this challenge to support SEDCU's new Bursary fund.

SEDCU sponsor 30 children through their education and as the charity has developed over the years so have the children. A number of them are soon to be in secondary education and with that comes increased costs.

To reduce the potential burden on sponsors SEDCU has decided to set up a bursary fund to enable children who desire further education to access it.

SEDCU will not change the world but it can change the world for a few children and help them to realize their unique potential. As a charity SEDCU is fully committed to the 30 individuals it supports, how ever far they wish to go.
