Story
In September 2021, me and my team El Greco will be heading down to Teddington Leisure Centre to raise money for Cancer UK.
This year, I will be honouring Kevin Fraser, my Mum's long term partner who passed away on 17th April this year after a long battle with cancer. Kevin has always been a big supporter of my yearly cancer runs or swims so this one is for you Kevin!!!
When I first decided to give back to help fight cancer in 2014, I joined Cancer Race for Life to honour my Dad who lost the battle and died of lung cancer. I have continued each year running to honour family and friends. The more I cried, the faster I ran and my PB was 22.5 minutes for a 5km run. My feet had other ideas so from last year, I started to do the 5km cancer swimathon.
Supporting Cancer UK has become an important event in my year and now for the second year my daughter wants to give back so we decided to make a team. We also have our friends Nancy and her daughter Alessia, a good friend of Mari-Sol who will join our team. We have called our team “El Greco” which means The Greek, a name my dad used to refer to himself. We have signed up to do the 5km swim.
Together we make an unstoppable team, not because we are hot shot swimmers, but because we are passionate and determined to make a difference. We will also appreciate and benefit from messages of encouragement and support from family, friends……all of you really!
Together with our unstoppable team and your support of messages and donations, WE CAN DO THIS!!!
