On the weekend of 6th-7th October 2018, a great team of people and I are climbing Mount Snowdon in Snowdonia National Park and taking on the fastest zipline in the world at Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda. In truth, I signed up to this without realising how much of a climb Snowdon would be (1,085 mtrs) nor quite how long or fast the zipline actually is (1555 mtrs at over 100mph). Both adventures will be a test to say the least and, as such, it's the perfect opportunity to raise money for the fantastic charity I work with: Integrating Children. These guys do amazing work supporting children and young people with disabilities from the Durham and Chester-Le-Street area, by helping them to access activities which promote their independence, self-esteem and emotional wellbeing. The kind of activities Integrating Children provide are outstanding (from day trips to bowling alleys, cinemas and swimming pools, through to theme park visits and week-long holidays in the summer vacation) and the charity's team leaders make the organisation and delivery of these activities look completely effortless, when it is often far from that. These activities are vital in helping local young people overcome the social isolation that is often experienced as a result of diagnoses, by providing safe, carefree social environments with peers. Every single staff member I've had the privilege of working alongside goes above and beyond to acheive this - they always make sure that every young person is supported and nurtured to acheive their full potential. AND all the kids and young people we work with are similarly awesome! It really is an honour to work alongside such a dedicated bunch.
