Diabetes is one of the most devastating and common diseases. I have seen the effects it can have on sufferers in both my personal life and through my job. It is such an underestimated condition and I want to help raise awareness and funds to help the charity.

Once upon a time swimming was a big part of my life. I gave it up over 20 years ago and since then I have not looked after my health properly. I have been at risk of developing diabetes and have had a number of scares over the years. It's time that changed and I am taking on this HUGE challenge (along with another swim) to change my life and support this worthy cause.

Nervous, but excited for the challenge which is to swim 22 miles in 12 weeks starting from 22nd Feb ending on 22nd May. This is the equivalent of 1,416 miles in a 25 metre pool.

Please support in whichever way you can,

Love, Kate
