Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The last 12 months have been one almighty whirlwind for us all. Life has changed.. some for the better and unfortunately some for the worse. But what has never changed is the fact that there are people in our local area that will require the services offered by Salisbury Hospice.

Much of our year has been put on hold meaning we can't get out and fundraise, we can't hold events or attend them either. May 2020 i was supposed to take part in the Midnight Walk which is a very large event but sadly this has been postponed. All the money raised so far is still going to this fantastic charity and until we are in a position to continue with the walk I want to do something myself to raise money.

Salisbury Hospice will forever hold a special place in my heart as they provided outstanding care for my grandad, Geoffy, in his final days with us. A short illness took him far too soon but I rest easy knowing he was in the care of Salisbury Hospice right until the end.

So, it turns out I can't do things by halves and instead I decided to commit to a whopping 20 mile (32km) walk from my home in Alderbury to Mottisfont and back again IN ONE SINGLE DAY on Saturday 15th May 2021.

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a sucker for taking shortcuts and if I could hop in a car to go to the shops I will so to commit to this is a huge deal for me. I am hoping this will be recognised by you all and you will all get behind me and back me along the way.

Since September I have lost around 4 stone so maybe I have this new found energy or I'm just mad and I'll probably moan the whole way round but either way I'm doing it.

With your help we can really make a difference to what has already been a really tough year.

I plan on making this event BIG. I want this to be recognised by as many people as possible... get as many people aware of this as we can. Friends, family, local businesses, local media please get them involved. If you have any contacts that would be happy to share the news then you are contributing to this event and I will be forever grateful.

Every pound is going to make a huge difference and the more I raise the more it will spur me on to get this completed!

Thank you for listening & most importantly thank you for any donation you can make.

..... See you at the end with a celebratory glass of bubbles!

About the charity

The hospice costs £2.9 million to run, with Salisbury Hospice Charity aiming to raise £1.5 million of the funding required. Over 1,000 people a year are helped both in the hospice and in the wider community. Without your help this could not have been achieved. Thank you.
