We support people with Spinal Cord Injury to help them live full, independent lives

Story

I'm taking on the Aspire Channel Swim 2017, swimming the distance of the Channel over 12 weeks to raise money for Aspire. It might seem an unusual charity but at the end of my rugby playing days I had problems with my back and spinal cord damage was my biggest fear resulting in me giving up rugby. I read an article recently about a paralysed young man who struggled to be active because his NHS chair was no good for an active lifestyle and Aspire gave him a lightweight sports model which has changed his life. Hopefully I can contribute some way to others in such a situation which so easily could've been me.

Every four hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.
